Best Heist Movies You Need to Binge ASAP

Be honest, is there anything more fun than watching a group of folks think of a smart way to rob a bank, a museum, or some other fancy establishment in a movie? There’s just so much excitement in watching a top-notch heist go from ideation to execution, and over the last two decades, we’ve been blessed with great heist films that keep us glued to our screens.

So, if you were struggling to figure out what to watch this weekend, don’t worry, we’ve got you! Keep reading for our pick of enjoyable watches!

“Ocean’s 8”

If you’re a fan of the “Ocean’s” franchise, you’ll more than likely be into this film, since it gives the same “let’s go get’em” feeling. Only this time, it’s with an all-female cast! Sign us up immediately!

“Takers”

We told you about this film before. If you like gangster movies with a shootout aspect, “Takers” will be right up your alley.

“Set It Off”

We’d truly be remiss if we didn’t include “Set It Off” here. We’re still crying about Cleo’s scene (you know which one). It just should’ve gone another way!

“Inside Man”

Would this list really make sense if we didn’t include this OG Spike Lee-Denzel Washington joint? No, it wouldn’t. Trust us on this one, this movie will keep you on your toes!

“Widows”

This is arguably one of Viola Davis’ most slept-on movies! From her kicking butt and taking names to the sinister way Daniel Kaluuya and Brian Tyree Henry pop in and scare the crap out of everybody—this is a movie you need to turn on sooner rather than later!

“Dead Presidents”

Larenz Tate in “Dead Presidents” is a classic. While you may not immediately think of it as a classic heist film, we think it still fits the category!

“Mad Money”

You already know that when Queen Latifah is involved, the film is going to be a good time! If you haven’t seen “Mad Money,” you’re definitely in for a treat!

“Lift”

Feel how you may about Kevin Hart right now, but he and Gugu Mbatha-Raw gave us a pretty entertaining heist film in “Lift” that’s definitely worth a watch!

“Ocean’s 11”

Do we really need to explain this one? There may only be two Black characters in this (looking at you, Don Cheadle and the late Bernie Mac), but this movie is filled to the brim with an ensemble cast and an unforgettable plot. There was no way we could leave this one out.

“Ocean’s 12”

Naturally, once you fall in love with “Ocean’s 11,” you’re going to want to find out what happens to Danny Ocean and the crew and whether they have what it takes to go on another heist. (Spoiler alert: the answer is yes.)

“Ocean’s 13”

Sadly, “Ocean’s 13” is the last one in the franchise. However, you can still wet your whistle with “Ocean’s 8” and keep your fingers crossed for the alleged “Ocean’s 14” that’s slated to drop soon.

“Den of Thieves”

50 Cent and O’Shea Jackson team up with Gerard Butler for a film that will truly have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! The good thing about this one is that there’s a sequel already out on Netflix, so you can roll straight into it after you watch the first film.

“Focus”

Will Smith is everything suave and stealthy in this early 2000s film. But it still has the elements of heist movies that we love!
