Gary Coleman’s Family Still Has Questions Surrounding His Death

The world mourned the loss of former child star Gary Coleman, who passed away on May 28, 2010, after suffering a brain hemorrhage. But those closest to him had questions about the circumstances surrounding his death, after his ex-wife, Shannon Price, appeared on a popular true crime television series. Now, his mother, Sue Coleman, and other loved ones are speaking on the matter.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Sue Coleman reflected on her son’s life and resilience, saying his talent was “God’s way of compensating him for what he’s been through.”

Others close to the late actor continue to be suspicious about what really happened during his final moments.

In Peacock’s 2024 documentary, “Gary,” Coleman’s friend Anna Gray revealed the actor had previously outlined specific wishes in an advance healthcare directive, requesting “at least two weeks of care before any plugs were pulled.”

Another close friend, Brandy Buys, admitted she never believed Coleman’s fall was accidental.

“I know the police had been there quite a few times to domestic issues,” Buys said in the documentary. “They both laid their hands on each other.”

While no new evidence has emerged to officially reopen the case, the lingering doubts from Coleman’s inner circle continue to keep public speculation alive more than a decade after his death.

The 42-year-old actor’s death was quickly ruled an accident after he suffered a major fall inside his Utah home in 2010.

At the time, Coleman and Price were divorced but still living together, which has led to long-standing speculation from family, friends and fans who believed there may have been more to the story.

The Root reported Price was asked directly whether she physically caused Coleman’s fall during her episode on A&E’s “Lie Detector: Truth or Deception.”

Twice, she answered “no.”

However, the examiner later told her the results showed “deception indicated” regarding the relevant questions tied to the fall.

Price immediately pushed back on the findings, calling the results “false” and continuing to maintain her innocence in connection with Coleman’s death.
