“Love Island” season six contestant JaNa Craig is opening up about how she’s bounced back after her shocking breakup from her ex and fellow “Love Island” season six contestant, Kenny Rodriguez. And what she has to say will be more than welcome news.
If you’ll remember, the two islanders met on the show and quickly became one of the hottest couples in the villa. Although they came in third place, by the time the season ended in the summer of 2024, it was clear the two were going to explore their connection well beyond the show and that they appeared fully committed and infatuated with each other.
However, the love bubble burst in July 2025 when Craig announced to her fans that she and Rodriguez were officially over. In a post to her official Instagram, she cited their breakup to the fact that she’d recently discovered that Rodriguez wasn’t who she thought he was and that the relationship she thought she was building was built on pretenses and ill intent from the jump.

Further digging revealed that Craig had allegedly found text messages in his phone where he outright admitted he was faking the connection, only in it for the clout and money, and that he didn’t like Black women.
Since then, she’s been keeping a relatively low profile, still posting on Instagram, securing various brand deals (like the new one she just promoted with Chili’s and 7-Eleven Inc.) and popping out for select appearances, as she did recently at the 2026 BET Awards.
And it was there that she gave her fans and followers a long-awaited update on how she’s been in the aftermath of the bitter breakup. Thankfully, for those curious, what she had to say was nothing but positive.
“I’ve just been learning,” Craig told PEOPLE recently. “I’ve always loved myself, but when you go through what I went through, it kind of lowered the confidence a little bit, but we’re back up.”
She later went on to refer to the breakup as an “unfortunate” thing, but assured everyone that the situation didn’t push her to stop loving herself and that she’s kept her personal convictions in tact.
“I’ve always had boundaries. I’ve always had morals. I’m keeping the same thing. What happened obviously was very unfortunate, but I’m okay. Everything’s good. I still love myself. I know my worth,” she said.
