Fashion Trainwrecks at the MTV VMAs 2026

The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards took over Los Angeles on Sunday, and as expected, the red carpet came with plenty of fashion moments! Snoop Dogg hosted the festivities, while Black stars including Teyana Taylor, Tyla, and more were among the night’s presenters.

But for every look that had us nodding in approval, there were others that left us wondering what exactly happened in the dressing room. So, let’s take a look at the red carpet looks that missed the mark this year!

Flo

We get it, the goal was to make all the girls look the same but in their own unique way. Yet and still, these looks missed the mark big time thanks to the sandy colored dress!

PinkPantheress

This looks like the perfect dress for a completely different occasion that’s not the VMAs. Everything about it just looks humdrum.

Tyla

Now, the blue snakeskin is a cool choice. But that bra and ultra-low-rise skirt aren’t giving what it’s supposed to.

Normani

Normani usually understands the assignment, but this year, her look at the VMAs didn’t do much for us. Maybe it was because of that giant spark of feathers on her shoulder or the non-flattering color of her dress.

Olandria

OK, don’t hate us, but this look didn’t really do anything for Olandria! And y’all know she usually slays. That’s what makes this look such a disappointment.

Lauren Ashley Beck

There’s just a lot going on with this look between the patterns and the chiffon/tulle at the end. Maybe this one ought to have been left in the showroom.

Tetris Kelly

Purple plaid pants at the VMAs? No. Just no.

Caleb Calloway

The shirt would be fine on another fit, as would the pants. But when put together, it doesn’t hit the way it’s supposed to.

Kel Mitchell

Kel, we’ll always love you! But this slightly butter yellow suit? Immediately no. And we mean no disrespect.

Tiffany Nicole Ervin

Now, would we consider this a true train wreck? Not really. But does it excite us in the least bit? Absolutely not. It’s giving plain Jane, and we hate that because Tiffany is a beautiful woman. Maybe we’ll get more pizazz next time.

Miles Caton

Miles Caton, you’ll forever be our lil’ Sammie, thanks to “Sinners.” But was this the best you could do? We think not.

Terrell Carter

While the look itself here isn’t completely bad, it appears to be ill-fitting, and that makes it a miss for us. But Terrell Carter is gorgeous, so we’ll only give him a minor violation for this.

Chloe Bailey

Chloe Bailey’s look is shiny and feels like we ought to love it. But there’s something a bit off about the dress, and we can’t quite put our finger on it!
