As Porsha Williams continues to live her best life on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia, was just hit with another devastating legal blow. He’s now facing federal charges and breaking his silence about the ordeal.
According to new court documents, Guobadia has been indicted on federal felony charges for allegedly falsifying tax returns involving millions of dollars in business revenue. Per TMZ, prosecutors in the case allege that he deliberately and knowingly underreported his taxable income, despite his petroleum company raking in millions of dollars.
The feds claim the underreporting occurred in March and July of 2021. Although an arrest warrant has been issued, it’s unclear whether Guobadia has been taken into custody. But what is clear is that the Nigerian businessman isn’t taking this new legal issue lying down. He recently spoke out to defend himself against the allegations on social media.

In a statement to Instagram, he described the indictment as “grossly exaggerated,” adding that his background in accounting and the oil industry makes him uniquely qualified to know better than to commit the crimes he’s being accused of.
“As a former tax accountant and CPA, I understand the consequences of filing a false tax return,” he began. “I am also completely confident that the U.S. Department of Justice got this one wrong: Oil companies do not overstate their cost of goods sold or the federal taxes they collect and pay over to the government. My deductions for those payments can be independently verified.”
Guobadia concluded: “Anyone who knows the oil industry will tell you our margins are thin. These widely publicized indictments create an impression, hopefully not on purpose, that is grossly exaggerated.”
These new charges mark the latest chapter in the messy saga between Guobadia and Williams. As we previously told you, their divorce was finalized in August 2026, with the reality TV star walking away with major wins, including their Atlanta home, spousal support, and over $1.5 million in equity reimbursement. She’s also been happy in her new relationship with her girlfriend, Patrice “Sway” McKinney, and recently made fans laugh on “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip,” in honor of the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
The couple recently celebrated their first anniversary together with Williams posting on social media that they spent time in New York City to commemorate the occasion. In a recent interview with The Reality Rundown, she described her and Sway’s relationship dynamic as them being “damn-near married” at this point and gushed over how well she’s gotten acclimated to her reality TV lifestyle.
