It’s not every day that Simone Biles makes headlines for anything outside of gymnastics or her marriage to NFL star Jonathan Owens. However, her name is back in the news after a recent health update that has her fans shook.
If you’ve spent any time on TikTok recently, you may have seen Biles and Owens in Indiana, where the latter was practicing with his new team, the Indianapolis Colts. Owens signed a new one-year contract with them in March 2026, after a two-year stint with the Chicago Bears.
As the couple adjusts to life in their new city, things got off to a rocky start for Biles, as evidenced by a since-expired post to her Instagram Stories. As captured by Entertainment Weekly, the seven-time Olympic gold champion shared a picture of her arm covered in plastic bands, including a hospital band. Biles alerted her fans that she “almost died” earlier that week, though she didn’t go into details about what caused the “scary” ordeal.
“I’m not one to normally share things like this, because I value privacy in today’s age. But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week. This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life. Especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices,” she explained.
Biles went on to say that she’d been on bed rest since the incident and that she’d explain exactly what happened to her followers at another time. She concluded by thanking those closest to her for checking in and making sure she was OK.
“I’ve been in bed resting this week. I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers. Loooovveeee y’all,” she said.
This news, although vague, isn’t the first time Biles has dealt with health challenges. As we previously told you, during the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she struggled with mental health issues and a bout of the “twisties” that forced her to withdraw from the team and all-around finals.
