It’s not every day that Black folks collectively agree with a hot take from Joe Budden on his popular podcast, but that’s exactly what’s happening regarding his recent opinions on Dame Dash. And in a move you may not have seen coming, plenty of people are expressing similar sentiments to the host!
If you don’t know what we’re talking about, then let us get you up to speed. Recently, Budden aired his two cents about Dash, expressing how “sad” it is to see how badly he’s been acting out on social media and how badly he’s fallen from public graces. His opinion stemmed largely from Dash’s negative response to Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic freestyle.
As we previously told you, Jay made his grand appearance at the popular music festival earlier this month after a six-year hiatus and took subliminal (but still obvious) shots at fellow artists that he took issue with, like Nicki Minaj, Drake, Dash, and others, during a freestyle. Naturally, Hov’s rap went viral, with many praising him for his bars. But once Dash got wind of it, he called out his former Roc-A-Fella business partner for being “corny” and even went so far as to release a diss track called “Cheap Teeth,” in which he negatively talked about Jay and fellow rapper Cam’ron.

As a result, Budden took it upon himself to say what most people are thinking when it comes to Dash and expressed how disappointing it is to see Dash at this point in his life and career, given how many people were fans of his during his Roc-A-Fella days.
“This fall from grace is sad to watch if you knew Dame, if you were familiar with his Roc-A-Fella [days], the dance,” Budden began.
He then referenced Jay’s freestyle and explained how he felt that every artist Jay took shots at in those verses was “mentally not there,” and Dash sadly fell into that same category given all his recent antics.
“Dame for who we know him to be, telling stories of how he thinks Hov was trying to bag Aaliyah? Like, nigga, what are you doing, dog? That’s outside of him beefing with Cam(Cam’ron), beefing with any of the people,” Budden said. “It looks a way, it looks a way. It’s, ugh. I can’t watch anything he does anymore. Nothing! No interviews, no podcast! It ain’t so entertaining for me to see him…it’s sad. It’s sad.”
As Budden’s words began to circulate online, many took the comments section to express similar opinions and their shock and awe that they were actually siding with the usually controversial Budden.
“I’m agreeing with Joe yet again, it’s very sad!” wrote one user on TikTok.
“As a hip hop historian, I agree. I. wanna remember cheerful Dame,” said another.
One other user wrote: “I said the same. It’s sad and hard to watch.”
Added another, “Dame Dash’s ego is his downfall.”
“I don’t care for Joe, but I agree with this…it’s sad for sure,” said one other person.
