Back in March, the internet was teary-eyed after being introduced to New York besties Diana, a Black woman, and Candace, an Asian woman, who spoke about their decades-long friendship and how Diana served as Candace’s rock through cancer treatment. Now, six months later, we have an update on the pair that is just as emotional as their original story.
As we previously told you, the TikTok page @Besties_NYC randomly stopped Diana and Candace as they were walking through the streets of Manhattan and shared their story online. Their now-viral video, which featured the pair talking about why they love each other so much, including Candace sharing that Diana has been a constant source of support for her during her cancer treatments, gained more than 11 million likes.
One moment that really stuck with viewers was when the besties spoke about their annual trips to Barbados and how they still plan to go every year, no matter what they’re going through. Now, thanks to social media, the ladies were able to visit another one of their dream destinations.
Supporters not only raised over $100,000 for Candace’s fight against cancer, but when Diana revealed that it had always been Candace’s dream to go to France, Airbnb stepped in to sponsor a trip for them. But before the surprise was revealed to Candace, she shared some good news about her health.

“I finished all my chemo and radiation; I’m on immunotherapy right now,” she said. “I get a little tired, but every day I still get up and do what I have to do. There’s still a long road ahead, but I’m getting there.”
After hearing the great updates, @Besties_NYC revealed that Airbnb had a special gift for the pair. “Your strength. It inspired millions of people. You told me off-camera that your dream trip was to France. Well, Airbnb has generously set up this entire trip. The tickets are bought! You’re leaving in two days! You’re going to France!”
As the besties screamed with joy, folks in the comments were happy about the special moment and their beautiful friendship.
“This is adorable. Having friends that are there for you through every season is priceless,” wrote one user.
Another user wrote that the happy update brought her to tears. “I’ve wondered about them since the 1st vid, and now ur telling me it’s cancer-free and a girls’ trip to Paris. I’m crying.”
But the joy didn’t stop there, as the besties gave folks exactly what they wanted – sharing pictures of their Parisian adventure.
Loving the content, folks in the comments needed tissues as they continued to show love to Diana and Candace.
