In May, we told you about the dissolution of Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key‘s working relationship. But now, it looks like there’s a positive update to be shared between the two and a potential project that could be coming down the pipeline.
As previously stated, another comedian went viral in May 2026 for alleging that Key’s wife may have been the wedge that drove the two longtime collaborators apart. For context, neither the “Nope” director nor the “Jingle Jangle” star has worked together since ending their popular sketch comedy show “Key & Peele” in 2015. By the time this video went viral, however, neither comedian commented on the allegations at the time.

Fast forward to September 2026, it seems as if Key and Peele are actually in a good place. Speaking with PEOPLE recently, he divulged that the two of them still communicate and have even broached the topic of working together—but there are parameters.
“We talk, I wouldn’t say constantly, but whenever we talk, we talk about it. Jordan’s a very considered thinker and a very careful thinker,” Key explained. “I think the big thing for him is always: it has to be the right thing. And I want that for him all the time. I want him to realize his vision as purely as he wants to in his mind.”
The “Schmigadoon!” star went on to say that the more likely scenario of a future collaboration will probably come on a random day when Peele hits him up via text. If that happens, the end result will be something that aligns with both their talents and abilities, as opposed to just a simple reunion for the sake of a reunion.
“I guarantee you, one day he’s just going to text me and go, ‘I think I have it,’” Key explained. “He’ll say something like, ‘I want to use your facilities and your gifts to the best ability, and I think in this story that I’m writing, this is the way to do that,’ as opposed to doing something just novel and going, ‘Hey, it’s Key and Peele together!’”
He concluded in part: “So yes, there have definitely been discussions.”
