New Developments in Child Sex Abuse Material Allegations Against Meghan Markle’s Father

As Meghan Markle and the rest of the world are still trying to come to grips with the shocking child sex abuse material possession allegations that were lobbed against her father, Thomas Markle Sr., new details continue to paint an unsettling picture. And it’s not looking good for him.

According to a new report from the UK newspaper The Times, Markle received a letter from her father’s ex-wife, Roslyn Loveless, nearly a decade ago that detailed allegations about his offenses. Loveless also alleged in the letter that Markle Sr. could pose a security risk to Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, and she felt it was necessary to send it to the Duke and Duchess’ office to alert them.

Before sending it to the Duchess, Loveless sent the letter to London’s Metropolitan Police and shared that she’d already notified the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC), the city’s “joint police and mental health unit that assesses and manages risks posed to public figures, senior politicians, the British Royal Family, and visiting heads of state by individuals who exhibit fixated or obsessive behavior,” according to the official website.

However, on Tuesday (Oct. 27), it was revealed that the Met misplaced the letter and had to ask Markle for hers to launch an investigation into the allegations against her father. As noted by the UK newspaper, The Telegraph, Loveless alleged that Markle Sr. often traveled to the Philippines and Thailand because “12-year-olds are legal there,” adding that she felt compelled to speak up because she viewed him as a “high risk to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and to [Meghan’s mother] Doria Ragland.”

As we previously reported, Markle has spoken out about the allegations against her father after her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., contacted authorities in the Philippines after allegedly discovering images and videos depicting child sexual abuse on their father’s electronic devices at his former home. In her statement, the Duchess said she was “deeply distressed” by the news, adding that authorities assured her that they were investigating the matter. She expressed hope that justice would be served.

The Duchess of Sussex also addressed years of speculation surrounding her strained relationship with her father, explaining that her decision to keep him away from her and Prince Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet, was made to protect them. Markle Sr. has denied the allegations, calling them lies. According to The Guardian, Philippine authorities have confirmed that the matter is under investigation, while the FBI has also acknowledged the allegations.
