Barack Obama has barely returned to the campaign trail and MAGA supporters already appear desperate to steal his spotlight.
The former president’s growing crowds and biting criticism of Donald Trump have clearly struck a nerve among his political opponents.
And with Election Day approaching, even his presence seems enough to send some of Trump’s most devoted supporters into a frenzy.

This time, someone took the spectacle airborne, flying an American flag alongside a MAGA banner over a massive Georgia rally on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
But the stunt only drew more attention to the former president’s ability to command a crowd.
The display unfolded outside The Arena at Southlake in Atlanta’s southern suburb of Morrow, where Obama joined Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff and gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Video captured the flags circling overhead as spectators booed.
One frustrated onlooker raised a middle finger toward the sky. Whoever arranged the flight might have hoped to rattle the crowd, but the reaction showed that no one was jacking them at all.
And social media users wasted little time roasting the apparent intimidation tactic.
“Whooo is spending money on this is what I want to know lmao I’ve watched it circle like 20 times now,” one person wrote on Threads. Another added, “Just wasting their budget.”
“They are gagging on the crowd size,” a third observed.
“Meanwhile Trump’s trying to fill a high school gym,” another joked
“Nothing screams dying regime like circling someone else’s rally to remind everyone the sinking ship still has a few passengers,” one commenter wrote.
“Figures agitators may be in the mix,” another wrote. One person remarked, “Imagine being happy about high fuel prices so much that you waste it doing this dumb s—t.”
The airborne spectacle came as Obama was energizing Georgia Democrats ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms. Ossoff is fighting for reelection, while Bottoms hopes to become the nation’s first elected Black female governor.
The packed venue and crowds outside offered a far more consequential picture than the banner overhead.
Obama’s return also has inflamed the long-running enmity borne against him by Trump, who appears increasingly irritated by his predecessor’s sharp tongue and cool style. On the same day as the flyover, Obama went viral when a video of him tossing a mic onstage in slow motion hit the internet.
Just days earlier, Obama had audiences howling during an Ohio campaign appearance when he mocked Trump’s expensive White House makeover. The 65-year-old suggested Trump should consider a television career.
“He should be on HGTV!” Obama joked before delivering his most devastating punchline.
“He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory!”
The comparison quickly became political comedy gold. Trump’s affection for gold décor, his ballroom project and changes to the White House grounds suddenly became material for a joke that spread well beyond the rally.
Trump fired back on Truth Social, declaring, “Obama was a grossly incompetent President!” He also attacked Obama’s history of endorsing Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, both of whom lost presidential elections to him.
The backlash did little to bury Obama’s joke.
Independent sellers began putting the Cheesecake Factory punchline on T-shirts, including listings on Etsy, turning Trump’s decorating choices into wearable political satire.
For Obama, the feud is familiar territory. During a June appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast, he joked that he occupies more than a little space in Trump’s mind.
“I obviously have a room in his head… a suite in his head,” Obama said.
Now, with Election Day approaching, the former president appears determined to turn those punchlines into votes. His message remains rooted in a familiar campaign instruction: “Don’t boo. Vote.”
And while somebody spent money circling his Georgia rally with a MAGA banner, the real political battle was taking place below, where thousands gathered to hear Obama make his case for Democrats.
The flag got a few boos. Obama got the crowd. The real test comes at the ballot box.
