President Donald Trump loves seeing his name in lights.
From towering skyscrapers to luxury hotels, the president has spent decades making sure his five-letter surname is impossible to miss.
But a group of protesters found a clever way to turn his favorite form of advertising against him.

The stunt was timed to coincide with the Nov. 3 midterm elections, giving voters a not-so-subtle reminder of what was at stake.
Protestors simply borrowed Trump’s own branding and added a little something extra. And they didn’t need to remove a single letter, deface a building or purchase an expensive billboard to deliver their brutal message.
Trump Gets Stripped of His Dignity as Giant Naked Gold Statue Puts His Belly on Display
A massive, illuminated political insult was splashed across the gold-covered Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
The president’s prized property became an anti-Trump billboard.
French visual artist Joanie Lemercier staged a billboard projection with collaborators from the activist collective Projetemos. They beamed one embarrassing word, “OUT,” beside the hotel’s permanent “TRUMP” signage.
The combined message read “TRUMP OUT” in giant letters against the right corner of the nighttime skyline.
According to Primetimer, Lemercier’s team rented a room approximately 650 feet across from the 64-story building weeks before unveiling the project. From their temporary headquarters, they positioned a powerful laser projector and carefully aligned the message with Trump’s existing signage.
No spray paint. No property damage. Just a projector, some precision and a whole lot of nerve.
“Projection on Trump tower, Las Vegas, Nevada,” Lemercier wrote on Threads, explaining that the elections would have a “deep and broad impact on international politics.”
The demonstration also carried an unmistakable message about political power. By transforming Trump’s own property into a protest canvas, the artists turned one of his most recognizable symbols of wealth into an advertisement for his political rejection.
And social media users were absolutely eating it up.
“Pretty gangster use of technology. Carry on,” one Threads user wrote. Another applauded the unconventional approach, declaring, “Not all heroes wear capes; some don large projectors.”
“Is this actually real? If so genius,” added a third person, while a local added, “From a Nevadan, thank you.”
Others couldn’t resist poking fun at the technical execution.
Another wrote, “This is fkg bada—. And you even did it right. You projected the word OUT in a safe way without making it possible for anyone to look at the lasers directly and avoided the windows. Spectacularly done. Let’s get that POS out of here.”
The Las Vegas spectacle follows other creative demonstrations that have turned public landmarks into political punchlines.
In Washington, D.C., Lincoln Project Advocacy partnered with projection artist Vjaybombs to illuminate landmarks with mocking images of Trump administration officials.
One particularly biting installation targeted the Kennedy Center, where Trump’s name appeared to tumble down a covering before the numbers “86” and “47” flashed across the surface.
The displays also featured caricatures of Vice President JD Vance, Stephen Miller and other prominent Republicans.
Meanwhile, the anonymous art collective The Secret Handshake took its criticism from Washington to Manhattan.
In August 2026, the group unveiled a 10-foot-tall golden “Iran War Participation Trophy” in Foley Square, mocking Trump’s handling of the conflict. The installation included smaller awards ridiculing everything from his political setbacks to his troubled Reflecting Pool renovation.
Together, the demonstrations illustrate a growing form of political protest that uses spectacle, humor and social media to embarrass powerful figures without permanently altering public spaces.
For Trump, whose name has become a lucrative personal trademark, the Las Vegas display delivered an especially personal jab.
The president spent decades putting his name on buildings to remind the world of his success.
Now protesters have discovered that they only need three additional letters to turn his biggest advertisement into his biggest embarrassment.
And the best part? Trump already paid for the sign.
