Forever, Season 2…Is That You? The Netflix coming of age drama series Forever had audiences in a chokehold and the network announced yesterday that they are officially taping Season 2. Creative powerhouse Mara Brock Akil is the executive producer and showrunner of the series which stars Lovie Simone and newcomer Michael Cooper, Jr. Fans are swooning over the duo’s chemistry on and off camera and their teaser has us yearning for more of Akil’s nuanced, layered and intentional storytelling in the second season of this record-breaking series.

Second Line Time: HBCU Style! Second lines in New Orleans and the city’s surrounding area are a distinct celebration of community, culture, tradition and >HBCU graduation, so it was fitting that a second line took place at one of this year’s Howard University commencement ceremonies. Because, why not? Congrats to all the happy 2026 graduates!

Black Teachers Matter May 7, 2026 was Black Teacher Appreciation Day which fell during Teacher Appreciation Week. This year’s theme, announced by the Center of Black Educator Development was “Black Resistance and Joy: Celebrating Black Educators and Teaching as a Practice of Freedom.” We’re eternally grateful for the dedicated teachers who deliberately and lovingly pour into our youth. Educators like Miss Math Teacher (see below) are priceless. We salute you all.
