Halle Berry, Ex-husband Olivier Martinez are Breaking Their Silence Now That Their Brutal Custody Battle is Over

After weeks in court, Halle Berry’s custody battle against her ex-husband Olivier Martinez over their 13-year-old son Maceo has finally come to a close. And now, both parties are speaking out about the judge’s decision.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ on Thursday, Berry came out on top to a degree as the judge in their case denied Martinez’s request for a domestic violence restraining order and dissolved the temporary restraining order he’d previously received. However, the judge opted not to restore the 50/50 custody agreement the two had and instead allowed Martinez to retain primary physical custody of their son.

Berry’s rep also told the outlet that she still has joint legal custody. Sadly, Maceo will no longer be able to have overnight visits with Berry, but they won’t be restricted from visiting with each other during the holidays.

The Oscar-winning actress was silent yet all smiles during her exit from the Los Angeles courthouse, but she later responded to the ruling through her attorney, Marina Beck, who spoke to Page Six via statement.

“We are extremely pleased that the Court has dissolved the TRO[temporary restraining order]. As we move forward, Halle is determined to continue to focus on the well-being and best interests of her family,” it read.

On the other hand, Martinez took the time to speak with TMZ as he left, noting that the “truth” had been said and that

“You can’t have justice without truth, and today truth has been said. Liars have been seen, and justice has been served,” he said.

His lawyers expounded on the point, saying that they were “very happy with the decision” and that Maceo is safe with his father.

“My client’s child is safe in my client’s custody. He’s extremely happy about this. This is exactly what he wanted…he wanted to protect his child,” they said to TMZ.

They also noted their desire for there to be “repair” between Maceo and Berry and alluded to the two having to go to court-mandated therapy sessions moving forward.

“The justice system worked today, and it helped render orders that will protect this minor child moving forward, that will help repair the relationship moving forward, and will give my client the peace that he deserves, the lawyers said.

What’s more, the judge reportedly said that he would “reconsider” the custody issues in November, so the two could wind up back in court as early as next week.
